Airsoft M14 Sniper Rifle Review

The M14 Comes To Airsoft, And Blows Us Away.

UTG M14 AEG Electric Sniper Rifle FPS 340 Airsoft Gun, Black, Spare Magazine Airsoft Gun

We’re fans of Airsoft as a sport, and we’re real fans of ‘real Airsoft’, where the weapons and the ammunition limits (and magazine weights) match what the real guns carry. It makes for a much more rigorous game, and really puts a premium on having a good Airsoft sniper on your team.

Here’s why – realistic airsoft training means that rates of fire are lower, and people have fewer shots to shoot after lugging around their magazines. Which puts a damper on “Steve Spray And Pray” as a player type – you know him, the guy who can’t be bothered to aim, but will hold down the trigger for suppressing fire like there’ s no tomorrow.

When people are carrying realistic magazine weighs and ammo, the number of shots you carry (and how much that weight slows you down) becomes an important tactical consideration. It also means someone who can sight in, aim, and hit what he aims at is worth his weight in gold, and that type of player will eventually gravitate towards a sniper configured rifle, like the Airsoft M14 Sniper Rifle.

The M14 is an all electric rifle that’s modeled off of the same M14 rifle used by US troops for light sniper work. It’s got the full weight kit, is built nice and durable, uses standard 6mm airsoft bbs, and the stock is coated in the same non-skid grip material that a real gun has, making it sort of cling to your hands when you cozy up to it for a shot.

Now, no Airsoft Sniper Rifle is going to be as accurate as the real thing – this is because the rounds aren’t as heavy, nor are they going as fast. That being said, build quality has a serious effect on the accuracy of an Airsoft gun, and the M14 is one of the case in point examples of the good side. We’ve all used cheap Makarov rip-offs that are accurate to about 10 feet; the M14 airsoft sniper rifle actually gets good three shot groupings at a bit over 200 feet, which is almost unheard of in Airsoft combat. (It’s on the box rating is 320 fps, and 150 feet of effective range. Testers regularly hit head sized targets at 200 feet, which is merely a testament to how well made it is.)

In terms of mechanicals – the operations of using the gun, the M14 Airsoft sniper rifle is excellent, with good tactile and kinetic responses – you have to handle it pretty closely to the real M14, and that just adds to the fun.

It’s also got a good scope mount – and while a scope isn’t essential – since most Airsoft players can set up a target at about the maximum range of the gun – it’s useful for recon and surveillance missions, even if the people you’re eyeballing aren’t within range of the gun itself…yet. It’s also got attachment points (a weaver rail) for a bipod or night sights.

It doesn’t leave you high and dry in close quarters drills either; it’s capable of full auto, though it’ll chew through magazines in nothing flat. Still, nice to know you have it if your position is getting overrun.

JG BAR 10 Airsoft Sniper Rifle Impresses On Performance And Value

Posted July 21st, 2009 by AirsoftSniperRifle.org

Airsoft Sniper Rifles and being a sniper are a fun role in Airsoft competition. Getting good requires having a good Airsoft Sniper Rifle; while a good rifle can’t make up for bad fieldcraft or marksmanship, a bad rifle can render either of those two moot.

Enter the JG BAR 10, the Jing Gong Bolt Action Rifle 10. It’s modeled off of a fairly generic bolt action rifle that isn’t quite an M1 Garand. So, this isn’t a replica piece working as an Airsoft gun, it’s an Airsoft gun that matches the basic template for about a thousand different models of gun. It’s a spring gun, which has its plusses and minuses – the plus side is that the spring action keeps the cost down, the down side is rate of fire. The spring on these is pretty tight; it shoots pretty well out of the box. You won’t find a lot of AEG ’sniper rifles’ because rate of fire doesn’t matter as much.

Out of the box, firing 0.20 g rounds, tests demonstrated a good shot grouping at 404 feet per second; with the usual adjustments, we can easily see this gun going to 500 feet per second, maybe higher. As always, for sniper work, you want to shoot heavier than 0.20 g rounds. When tested with 0.30 g and with the stops tightened up with some black electricians tape, it shot over 380 feet per second.

Build quality is pretty good; it’s excellent considering that new, this gun runs under $170. The cylinder assembly and trigger assembly are all metal, and it looks like it should be good and reliable. The weapon is light – it’s lighter than a real gun of the same dimensions – making it easily portable. The attachment rails are all compatible with Marui components like a bipod or a scope mount.

In accuracy tests, it was decent accuracy, but not earthshaking. We’ve seen more accurate guns, but we’ve also seen a lot less accurate as well. In terms of handling, the light weight is a plus; it’s got a rubberized neoprene style coating on the stock which makes it good to grip. It looks like the trigger assembly is compatible with other manufacturer’s parts.

All in all, the JG BAR 10 is impressive. If you’re looking for a good introductory airsoft sniper rifle under $200, this is one of the ones to look over; the only reason not to get it is if you’ve got an extra hundred bucks to buy something a bit heavier duty with finer tolerances. But this is an excellent airsoft sniper rifle to begin your airsoft sniper career.

The Art Of Being An Airsoft Sniper Part I

Posted July 7th, 2010 by AirsoftSniperRifle.org

As the sport of Airsoft continues its surge in worldwide popularity, the number of Airsoft teams and clubs continue to climb as well. These dedicated groups gather as weekend warriors at outdoor venues to participate in sophisticated war games. Dressed in military like fatigues, and armed with replica Airsoft guns, these teams engage in simulated military battles commonly referred to as the Mil-Sim (military simulation).

Of all the role players one can choose to be in these weekend battles, perhaps the most popular of all is the ?Sniper?. The Airsoft Sniper is often referred to as the Lone Wolf or Rouge of Airsoft. This is the gamer that wants to place himself in the perfect hidden location in order to eliminate the opposing players in a deadly ambush. Although a popular identity among Airsoft warriors, few players have mastered the skill of becoming a feared and effective ?Super Sniper?.

The first step in becoming a successful Super Sniper begins with having the right equipment! This begins by choosing the Sniper?s most important accessory-the sniper rifle. The goal of the Sniper is to be able to shoot the enemy from long distances, therefore his rifle does not need to be fully automatic or even semi-automatic. A well built spring?action rifle is usually the choice. The spring sniper rifle must be one of the more powerful models in order to shoot from long distances with great accuracy. It is also important to keep in mind that the most powerful weapon the Sniper has is his stealth or the ability to stay hidden. The spring action sniper rifles are much quieter than the electric automatic rifles.

One of the most recommended spring sniper rifles is the Super 9 Bolt Action Airsoft sniper rifle. This great Airsoft gun is made by UHC, which is widely recognized as one of the premier manufacturers of spring guns.

Perhaps the next most important piece of equipment for the secretive Super Sniper is his riflescope. The ability to see long distances with accuracy is critical to his success. Often the original equipment scope does not fulfill this requirement and an upgrade is needed. A minimum 4×32 power scope is the desired measure.

The successful Sniper has also mastered the art of military camouflage. Without proper clothing the Sniper is doomed to failure. It is essential for him to be undetected by the opposing teams. Investing in a ?ghillie? or camouflage suit is critical to maximum concealment from enemy patrols and other snipers. This suit is made from a central binding layer and loose strips of material designed to break up the shape of the human body. Super Snipers typically customize their suits by adding plant-matter or rolling in the dirt or mud in order to deaden color contrasts. With the potential for wearing this suit a long time during battles, comfort is a premium.

One of the great mistakes of the amateur sniper is running out of ammunition. As simple as this may seem, this is a common mishap due to the underestimated length of many Airsoft skirmishes. Many a sniper meets his demise as he emerges prematurely from his secret hideout at the most inopportune time in order to retrieve more pellets. You will always find the wise Super Sniper well stocked with plenty of ammo!

Understanding the role and choosing the right equipment will help the Airsoft warrior to be well on his way to becoming a Super Sniper.

The Exciting Airsoft Sniper Rifle Part One

Posted July 7th, 2010 by AirsoftSniperRifle.org

In the ever-growing worldwide popularity of the sport of Airsoft, no player has captured the imagination of war gamers more than the character known as the Airsoft ?SNIPER?.

Often referred to as the Lone Wolf or Rogue of Airsofting, the Sniper is the gamer who wants to set himself up in the perfect ambush position and than take out his opponents with long range speed and accuracy.

The weapon of choice for this exciting player is the popular Airsoft Sniper Rifle. Of all the available Airsoft guns, the Airsoft Sniper Rifle is best suited for this type of player. Big and somewhat cumbersome, the Airsoft Sniper Rifle is designed for long range shooting with high velocity. These Airsoft guns are capable of creating some of the highest pellet velocities in the entire industry. These rifles are also noted for delivering heightened accuracy. The Sniper Rifle has an average length of around 42 inches (1070mm), with a firing velocity that approaches roughly 390ft/sec. These guns are usually powered by a bolt-action spring instead of an electric motor or gas. This makes the rifle advantageous in combat due to the quietness of its firing mechanism as compared to the much louder discharge of other power sources. The quiet bolt-action spring allows the shooter the ability to surprise other players more easily.

Due to their large length, the Sniper Rifle functions more accurately when used in a stationary position, usually mounted on a bipod. Although big in size, they are primarily designed to be used by a gamer who is set up in one spot. Because of its hefty size, these Airsoft guns are difficult to wield in close quarter situations. To alleviate this problem some rifles come with folding or removable stocks.

Along with a bipod, other important accessories for the Lone Wolf Airsoft Sniper and his rifle would include a laser scope. The advanced laser scope gives the shooter his best chance for optimal long-range accuracy. Being on the move for better ambush locations often necessitates the need for a quality shoulder harness to help in transporting the rifle. A large hi-cap magazine that holds a minimum of thirty bbs is also a necessary ingredient in prolonging the battle life of the gallant Airsoft Sniper.

One of the more popular Airsoft Sniper Rifle model lines is the Super 9 series. Designed after the Belgian police rifle with the customary windows in the stock, the Super 9 series has an extremely realistic look. The Super 9 series Airsoft guns cost around 100 U.S. dollars without any upgrades. It is important to keep in mind from a cost perspective that in order for the Super 9 to be effective in a serious Airsoft war game such as the Mil-Sim, it will require a number of the significant upgrades already mentioned. This will also increase the financial investment.

There are many exciting types of Airsoft guns available to all Airssoft enthusiasts and veteran war game players. But to those gamers who prefer the sniper?s thrill of stealth and surprise, no gun can match the exciting Airsoft Sniper Rifle.

How Airsoft Sniper Rifle Hop Ups Works

Posted June 11th, 2010 by AirsoftSniperRifle.org

All most every Airsoft player knows about hop-ups but there are a few players that don't. If you have no idea what a hop-up is then here a simple definition. Hop-up is basically the velocity of an airsoft BB when it's fired from an airsoft rifle. When an airsoft sniper rifle has an adjustable hop-up, that means you can adjust the speed or increase the speed of the BB firing from the rifle. Hop-up is also the theory of backspin, in which it usually spin in a up and backward direction. This is cause by the BB grinding along the top of the inside of the sniper rifles barrel. This grinding of the BB causes friction and gives it a spin, that spin offsets things such as gravity and air resistance, allowing the BB to travel further.

These hop-up devices are used on airsoft sniper rifles to apply more backspin to the BB. As stated earlier, the backspin allows the BB to fly farther and stay in the air longer. There a also other things to consider like for instance the wind and throw the trajectory of the BB off to the right or left depending on how strong the breeze is. There are certain hop-ups to help counter this affect on the BB and some hop-up are made especially for certain size BB to provide the best results.

If I told you the Bernoulli's Principle is related to using hop-up would you believe me? Well if you have no idea what the Bernoulli's Principle is then in basic term it states that “an increase in velocity occurs simultaneously with the decrease of pressure or a change in the gravitational potential energy.”

But how those this applies to Airsoft? Pressure is inversely proportional to velocity, in that lower pressure equals higher velocity. So in a spin-less BB being fired from a sniper rifle will have an equal pressure around the BB, but if a BB with a backspin creates a difference in pressure on the opposite sides of the BB and this difference in pressure makes the BB travel further.

So you can see, by adding an extra backspin to the BB, the accuracy of an airsoft rifle can be greatly increased. That is why it is wise to purchase an airsoft sniper rifle with an adjustable hop-up, so you have greater control over where your BB's end up or whom it hits. Having this extra range in your shot will greatly improve your kill ratio in an Airsoft game. Knowing how a hop-up works can give you greater confidence, since you understand how the hop-up upgrade and hop-up in general works.

One of the best airsoft sniper rifle that is easily customizable is the JG BAR10 Airsoft sniper rifles. If you are interested in reading more about this certain sniper rifle head over to TopAirsoftSniperRifles.com where they have a great review on this Airsoft rifle.

Buying Airsoft Sniper Rifle Scopes

Posted June 11th, 2010 by AirsoftSniperRifle.org

Most people associate sniper rifles with scopes, but a lot of airsoft snipers are sold without any such accessory. All that comes in the package is a high powered, accurate rifle, as well as smaller components and necessary things. Although this is the case, most people who buy a sniper rifle will add on a scope, because it increases the effectiveness of the product and makes the sniper rifle look and function more completely.

When thinking about what kind of scope you are going to get, the most important thing is to make sure that it is compatible with the rifle you are using. As long as it is compatible, you know you will at least be adding a little utility to your gun. However, the best course of action is to research all the options that you have, and pick the scope that matches your budget, needs, and requirements.

Some of the modern scopes that are sold nowadays have extra features on them, such as night vision abilities. Obviously, such a scope would be more expensive than one that could not do these things. However, if you actually do need a feature, like because you play in the dark a lot, then these extras can really mean a lot. More importantly, a lot of scopes have different levels of intensification and clarity, and if you can afford it, it is always good to go with the product that has a better quality. Do this, and you will have a lot of success as a sniper.

Cyma M14 Airsoft Sniper Rifle Review

Posted January 11th, 2010 by AirsoftSniperRifle.org

Are you looking for an Airsoft Sniper Rifle with a little gusto? The Cyma M14 is a beautiful BB rifle with all the features from its real life counterpart. Using 0.2g BBs and firing shots up to 330fps, this Airsoft M14 is capable of some serious damage to whatever targets are in the shooters’ sights. However, with its hefty size and slow fire rate, many may turn the other way for something smaller and with a faster fire rate. Otherwise, the Cyma M14 is a nice airsoft gun to use if you’re looking for a rifle.

Aside from the butt stock, barrel, and other parts of the rifle, the Cyma M14 is an accurate model of the real thing. It’s so accurate that it’s just as painful to lug around. The weight matches and so does the aiming. The iron sights take some getting use to and you may need to switch hands in order to hit your target. Beyond that, recoil and maintenance are pretty easy and shouldn’t give you a major problem. Just remember to keep the owner’s manual if you need to take it apart.

Even though this is a single-shot rifle, the Cyma M14 has a rechargeable battery to keep the BBs flying. Just plug the battery up when you’re done and you’ll be able to fire until you’re out of ammo. Taking it out may be easy, but putting it back in can become a mission of its own. However, you won’t have to worry about loading each BB manually. The Cyma M14 has enough to keep people from buying it.

The only major problem is with the weapon it’s based on. The M14 was made to be a standard-issued assault rifle in WWI & II. The problem: it was too heavy to carry during long marches and the .44 Cal. rounds it used were just as bulky. You also had jamming problems and other malfunctions to boot. It’s now become a top choice for hunters and snipers due to the firepower it’s packing. Anybody that can wait for their target will love this airsoft rifle. Others may want something fully automatic, like an UZI or AK-47.

The Cyma M14 is a great airsoft rifle for those who don’t mind taking their time. However, if you want something that’s fully automatic and has a lightweight design, move on to the next weapon. Yes, even though you can’t die from a BB shot, these are considered weapons in some places. The main reason is because they can kill rodents and other small animals. Remember: don’t point the gun at something unless it’s your intended target. You can find the Cyma M14 online for $110, but make sure to shop around for better deals. This one doesn’t move off the shelves fast, so finding it in stock should be no problem. The BBs are very cheap and come in various amounts, just like real bullets do. If you’re kids have that same passion like Ralphie from “A Christmas Story” did for his Red Rider, check out the Cyma M14 airsoft rifle.

Choosing an Airsoft ACOG Scope

Posted January 11th, 2010 by AirsoftSniperRifle.org

When looking for the appropriate Airsoft ACOG scope, you should first be familiar with the different types of Airsoft scopes, as these scopes make for better play in the Airsoft tournaments and competitions with your Airsoft Sniper Rifle. While it is not necessary for use in ordinary target shooting, the Airsoft ACOG scope can be beneficial in several other ways.

These Airsoft scopes upgrades the chances of making pinpoint long range shots and very useful for sniping. It also facilitates identifying the opponent in hiding in distances over the shooting range. The two types of scopes, the red dot and laser sights, also elevate the percentage of hits in close quarter battle and gun skirmishes, and basically improve the aesthetic appeal of your weapon.

Three Types Of Airsoft Scope

The first type is the telescopic scope. This scope enlarges the target several times over, depending on the model of the telescopic scope, and is ideal for snipers and combat troops. This Airsoft ACOG scope comes in several models, such as the 3-9 x 40, which is the most utilized scope model. The 3-9 means the enlargement sizes are from three times to nine times, including everything in between. The 40 is the diameter of the lens in millimeters. This is very useful for varying situations and instances.

There is the 4 x 32 model, which means the enlargement is four times and the lens size is 32 millimeters. Cross hairs are also considered in the telescopic scope and there are many different types to choose from, but basically these are attuned to the user’s taste and appeal. There is the usual 30-30 type that is one of the more utilized cross hair versions.

In the other two types of Airsoft ACOG scope, there are no enlargements of the targets and basically you will see the actual sizes of your targets. These are the red dot sight and the laser sight types. These scopes are ideal for competitions, tournaments, and closed quarter battles, and are also appropriate for pistol use.

The red dot sight casts a red or green dot from inside the lens and onto the target. The red dot is appropriate for use with the 40 millimeter lens and you can hold it with a little distance between your eyes and the scope itself. This Airsoft ACOG scope is good for random battles and pistols.

The third type, the laser sight is similar to the red dot sight, except that the dot is projected and visible on the target itself. This Airsoft ACOG scope type can be very intimidating for the enemy when the dot is cast onto him, but may otherwise prove to be more conspicuous that its counterparts. This laser sight is very ideal for low light situations and it can still be visible during moist daylight situations. With the different models of the laser sight, some may even be mounted on top of telescopic scopes to augment performance.

So, as you can see, the three types of Airsoft ACOG scope have different characteristics which may be used for different and varying applications, with each having its own usefulness and satisfaction rating.
